History They Can See. Stories They’ll Remember.

At the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum, we believe history is most powerful when students can connect to it personally. Through artifacts, primary sources, and true stories of real South Carolinians, we help bring classroom lessons to life.

Military history isn’t just about battlefields. It’s about leadership, innovation, hardship, citizenship, and the human experience in times of conflict and peace. Our programs explore the full story, from soldiers in the field to families on the home front.

Education Programs (SCCRRMM TEACH)

SCCRRMM Teach logo and students imageOur curriculum-based programs reinforce state standards while encouraging deeper critical thinking. Military history is a high-interest subject that often draws students into broader conversations about government, technology, economics, and social change.

We design programs to engage:

  • All grade levels
  • Diverse learning styles
  • Both students and educators

Lessons become meaningful when human connections are made and that’s where we excel.

JROTC, Scout Programs, Civil Air Patrol & Sea Cadets

JROTC cadet programs imageCadet programs are a proud part of South Carolina’s tradition of leadership and service.

At the SCCRRMM your cadets can connect with this history, as they learn the battlefield origins of Color Guard traditions, see the development of uniforms across time leading to the ones they wear today, and hear stories of timeless leadership.

A visiting cadet unit can schedule a gallery tour with a cadet emphasis, or a special program in the Education Room related to a particular conflict or a branch-specific interest, such as aviation or sea service. Adventurous units might also inquire about combining a visit to the Congaree Heritage Preserve battlefield, with a leadership debriefing at the Relic Room (it’s about a five-mile hike in-between, if you’d like to follow the 1865 route).

Cadet programs at the Relic Room are free of charge.
