The Confederacy purchased infantry accoutrements through S. Isaac, Campbell & Co. and some other suppliers. The items were usually bought in sets consisting of a waist belt, a pouch belt (cartridge box shoulder sling), a pouch (cartridge box), a ball bag, oil bottle, and frog (for bayonet and scabbard). This invoice for 4500 sets of accoutrements includes the purchase of one sealed pattern accoutrements. The state of South Carolina, like Georgia and Louisiana, purchased arms early during the war for troops.
